Ten euros for a database of every 'safety camera' in Europe, broken down in sensible fashion and in a format nearly any sat. nav. can use ?

The ghost of Spectra lives in ColdFusion 8 !

Submitted by Falken on

For those who don't remember, Spectra was an Adobe application framework that provided a web based desktop and work flow capabilities on top of ColdFusion, that has since been retired and then open sourced.

But it turns out that the ghost lives on, because if you ask ColdFusion's document indexing service, Verity, for information about a collection, it lets you know that a ghost created it :-)

Adobe launches new fourms with a few niggles

Submitted by Falken on

The new Adobe Forums launched recently, and there are a few gotchas to using them:

You can't start a new thread using email, so you are forced to use their web site.

You can't use the plain text option on the web site, because line breaks are eaten when you post.

You also can't use the rich text editor on their web site if you need to spell checker your posting (and everyone should !).

What does AIR application install error "Error# 5100" mean ?

Submitted by Falken on

Sometimes when installing an AIR application, the installer refuses to proceed with the mysterious 'Error# 5100'.
This doesn't appear to be documented anywhere, but it actually means the temporary file space is full (i.e. /tmp/ on Linux).

Guess the 100meg cap on my tmpfs wasn't enough, eh :-)

Idiotic 'most wins' rule scraped

Submitted by Falken on

In a statement just issued, the FIA have decided they don't know better than the Formula 1 fans they asked and all the teams they asked over the summer break, and scrapped the 'driver with the most wins gets the world championship' idea they had.
And it turns out, they couldn't introduce the change this close to the start of the season any way.
