Remove 'unverified server' pop up in AIR

Submitted by Falken on

The problem:
Every time some AIR applications start, they give a prompt saying ’trying to connect to an unverified server baz.com (on port 443). Do you trust this server ?’.
Clicking ’always’ (out of 'always', 'this session' and 'never') doesn't work, and it always asks the next time anyway.

The solution:
Visit https://baz.com in your web browser, and look at the certificate information for the site (on FireFox, click to the left of the address, then press 'more information').

Official: Formula 1 gives Ferrari special treatment

Submitted by Falken on

Well, what we've all suspected all along is now out in the open, the Ferrari Formula One team really are given special help over and above what any other team gets. As Bernnie says:

Goes above and beyond the extra money they get and some way to explaning the bias in the stewards decisions last year that....

24 Hour Party People

Submitted by Falken on

If you live in Manchester, have visited Manchester, know someone there or have even the slightest inkling of the effect Manchester had on nigh-on thirty years of music, you need to see 24 Hour Party People which is the more-or-less true history-drama of Factory Records and the Hacienda.

Many thanks to Tim for slipping that into his DVD collection over the last few days, though it did rather make us want to go into town and go back to the Hac., sadly departed though, of course.

Adobe gives AIR as early Christmas present

Submitted by Falken on

Adobe has today released the AIR run time for Linux, bringing full feature parity to the existing Windows and Mac versions and making AIR truly cross platform.

As a Flex developer, I'm far more likely [node:1524,title="to use AIR"] to build any desktop components of applications (or take web applications offline entirely) than just about the only real competition, Java.

Cheers Adobe, an excellent present to go into the Christmas break and next year with !

Why doesn't Reactor just...

Submitted by Falken on

If you have ever thought 'why doesn't Reactor just...' now is the time to let the Reactor team know.
Mark Drew has listed a few ideas of what might go into Reactor v2 on the mailing list (note the new home on Google Groups by the way) but I'm sure there's lots of other new ideas or improvements to existing features lying around in your head too, right ? If so, drop the mailing list or Mark himself a note about them.

It was really good fun, actually, giving the preso. - and it seemed to go fairly well. The feedback has all been very positive so far too, which is ace.
