Sounds like change is afoot for the popular Flex Cairngorm architecture.
This looks less like the Enterprise / plugable changes discussed previously, and right now I can't see the point of 'just' accessing the Model via the Controller, unless there is Cunning Support for automatically keeping (parts of) Model sync'ed via LCDS or something.

As a designer, I can't speak extremely educatedly about this, but I was present for the comment, and I'll just mention that its the other way around... putting the controller behind the model (not the model behind the controller).

I'm still not clear why this is a good idea though. Generally you don't access the Controller directly at run time anyway...
