New server installed and running

Well, thanks to Rachael's parent's redoing all their computers over Xmas, we've got our first ever faster-than-a-gig server. 1.245597 GHz to be precise (2483.81 BogoMIPS to you geeks) of AMD Athlon.

Upshot ? The main page now loads in the blink of an eye, and even the gallery (the bane of my performance life) is now quick !

Plus, it's kinda cool to know that CPU fan is still spinning (at 3040 RPM), and the CPU is only 44 degrees C :-) Look out for the graphs !

Computers are all evil lieing bastards

Got in the car this morning, got to the end of the road and looked at the trip computer while I waited for the traffic to clear. 68 miles to empty it said.

3 miles later the car stops :-( Still saying 60-odd miles to empty.

And to add to my woes, after the AA towed me to a garage, it cost 60p short of 50 quid to fill it up !

The wrong number of cans

The wrong number of cans of Jolt to leave in the fridge at work over Xmas is 4.
Because that way when a director needs to drive to the other end of the country to replace a faulty KVM (how rare is that, actually getting hands dirty !) he feels he can take two. Did offer to pay for them when he got back in though, which was nice.
